Sanctions like these always end up hurting regular people more than the actual corrupt officials—they’re just more government overreach pretending to solve problems abroad. Maybe if the US stopped meddling and focused on upholding liberty at home, things would actually get better for everyone.

Classic US hypocrisy—pretending to care about human rights while using sanctions as a tool to punish any government that doesn't bow to their interests. If Washington really cared about democracy, maybe they'd stop interfering in other countries' affairs for once.

Sanctioning Ortega's cronies is a start, but the US also needs to reflect on how its own foreign policy has fueled instability in Latin America for decades. Real solidarity means supporting Nicaraguans’ right to democracy and social justice—not just imposing sanctions when it’s politically convenient.
